“Modi Sahib and Vajpayee Sahib came here…” Ex-Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif wants better ties with India

Dec 10, 2023

New Delhi, December 10 (ANI): Former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has expressed intentions of normalising ties with India. While speaking to ticket aspirants of his party, Sharif called for improving ties with New Delhi. He also said that during his tenure as Prime Minister, two Indian PMs visited Pakistan. In 1999, former Indian PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee visited Pakistan just a few months before the Kargil War began. In the year 2015, PM Narendra Modi held a meeting with Nawaz in Pakistan during a surprise visit to the country. Nawaz Sharif also said that he was ousted by former military-chief of Pakistan, Pervez Musharraf for opposing Kargil War. Pakistan’s continuous attempts to infiltrate Indian territory with terrorists have been the reason for unfriendly relations. The 26/11 Mumbai Attacks left an unending outrage and pain amongst Indians. India-Pakistan ties nosedived after the abrogation of Article 370 in the year 2019.
