US-Iran war of words heats up Middle East situation

Washington [US], June 29: US President Donald Trump is said to have responded to Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei's statement regarding the recent attacks.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi yesterday (June 28) condemned US President Donald Trump 's "disrespectful and unacceptable" comments towards Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, according to AFP.
Mr. Trump accuses Mr. Khamenei of being ungrateful
Araghchi's response came after President Trump tweeted on Truth Social that he had saved Khamenei from assassination and accused Khamenei of being ungrateful. "I knew exactly where he was hiding and did not let Israel, or the United States Armed Forces, by far the greatest and most powerful military in the world, end his life," Trump wrote.
Trump also wrote that he had recently been working on the possibility of lifting sanctions on Iran. "No, I was attacked with a statement of anger, hatred and disgust and immediately canceled all work on easing sanctions," Trump wrote. He also said the US would "certainly" bomb Iran again if intelligence revealed Tehran could enrich uranium to military grade.
Trump's comments were in response to Khamenei's first statements after the US launched airstrikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities on June 22 (Vietnam time) and the 12-day Israel-Iran conflict ended, according to Reuters. Khamenei said reports of damage to Iran's nuclear facilities were exaggerated, and claimed Iran "slapped America in the face" by attacking a major US base in Qatar after Washington's airstrikes.
US bombs cannot destroy Isfahan base?
CNN yesterday quoted a number of informed sources as saying that in the US attack on 3 nuclear facilities in Iran on June 22, B-2 bombers dropped more than 10 MOP bunker-busting bombs on 2 nuclear facilities Fordow and Natanz. As for the Isfahan facility, the US only attacked with Tomahawk missiles, launched from submarines. Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Caine explained that the Isfahan facility was too deep for the MOPs to be effective.
The US Defense Intelligence Agency has made a preliminary assessment that above-ground structures at the sites have sustained moderate to severe damage. Such damage could make it difficult for Tehran to access any remaining underground stockpiles of enriched uranium, according to CNN.
Israel also claimed to have "stopped Iran's nuclear project" during the 12-day war. However, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar reiterated on June 27 that the world has an obligation to prevent Tehran from developing an atomic bomb. Iran has long denied any ambitions to develop nuclear weapons
