Hanoi [Vietnam], February 24: Throughout her singing career, Ngo Thai Ngan feels fortunate to have been supported and mentored by singer Ngoc Son, who taught her valuable lessons in the profession.
Born into a family with a strong artistic tradition, with both parents being cải lương (traditional Vietnamese opera) artists in the provincial art troupe, Ngo Thai Ngân was exposed to music from a young age. Throughout her high school years, she was a familiar face, representing her school in various arts competitions. These stages were the first steps in the artistic journey of Ngọc Sơn's student.
Despite growing up surrounded by traditional Vietnamese opera (cải lương) and once intending to follow in her parents' footsteps, Ngo Thai Ngân chose a different path. The 9X singer says that the lyrical and bolero genres are the path she feels is more suited to her. "Everything came to me like fate. Now I focus more on music, but occasionally, if there's a suitable program, I still sing cải lương," she shared.
Ngo Thai Ngan went through a difficult period when she started her career alone in Ho Chi Minh City. She frankly shared: "There were times when I thought about giving up singing. Being alone in Ho Chi Minh City was tough, without support, having to rely on myself, so there was a time when everything seemed too difficult." This pressure made her consider temporarily putting her dream on hold, thinking, "I'll continue when things get better."
To nurture her passion, Ngo Thai Ngan worked as a waitress in a cafe, sang at wedding receptions and parties. She even participated in music videos to fund her own projects. This perseverance helped the 9X singer maintain her passion for the profession and wait for opportunities. "It's like the profession never abandons me. Opportunities came, and I continued to pursue my passion until now," the singer confided.
A major turning point in Ngo Thai Ngan's career came with the song "Duyen Phan" by composer Thai Thinh. This was her first product that established her name in the hearts of the audience. Ngoc Son's protege recalled the feeling when her debut product received such a positive reception: "That was the first milestone in my career. I was truly very happy. Even now, I still can't forget the feeling of having older viewers, both domestic and international, visit my channel to encourage me."
Ngo Thai Ngan reveals her relationship with singer Ngoc Son.
In 2019, Ngo Thai Ngan participated in a music competition and chose to join artist Ngoc Son's team. From then on, she officially became a student of the singer of " The Last Night. " "I am very lucky to be his student. Meeting a teacher, a big star, and also my idol is a great happiness," Ngo Thai Ngan expressed.
Besides receiving professional support, Ngo Thai Ngan also learned profound lessons about the profession: "My teacher always taught me to know how to live, to know how to be humble. Don't always pretend to be smart. He said: No matter how much you study, you can never understand everything, so you must always be humble."
From a young girl struggling to make ends meet in the big city to a beloved singer, Ngo Thai Ngan possesses not only perseverance but also faith and gratitude. Amidst a volatile music market, the female singer has chosen a solid path, honing her skills, upholding professional ethics, and continuously improving herself. Winning the " Listen to Me Sing" competition in 2023 and the "Shining Stars" competition in 2024 are considered proud milestones in the career of Ngoc Son's protege.
