
Ten dead after storm causes boats to capsize in China

Beijing [China], May 6: Ten people have died in a boating accident on a river in south-western China's Guizhou province, with 70 others taken to hospital, state media reported on Monday.
None of the injured are in critical condition, the official Xinhua news agency reported.
A sudden storm and heavy rainfall on Sunday caused four boats to capsize in the Wu River, a popular tourist destination, according to Xinhua. Two of the boats were carrying passengers. Authorities said 84 people fell into the water, with four tourists uninjured. A passenger who was still reported missing the day after the accident was found dead shortly after noon on Monday, state media reported.
An initial investigation found that the boats were not overloaded, Xinhua reported. (DPA)
