Ramallah [Palestine], October 31: The Palestinian who carried out a car-ramming attack on Sunday south of the West Bank city of Jericho died of his wounds in hospital after being shot by Israeli soldiers, the Palestinian health ministry and security sources said.
BarakatOudeh, 49, from the neighborhood of Al-Eizariya, east of Jerusalem, drove near a crossroad south of Jericho, hitting and wounding at least seven Israeli soldiers, before Israeli servismen opened fire and critically injured him, they added.
A day earlier, a Palestinian man armed with an assault rifle opened fire at Israeli settlers in the West Bank before he was killed by a security guard and an off-duty soldier.
Tension has been mounting between Israelis and Palestinians since March when the Israeli army intensified its military actions and operations against Palestinian militants and activists by storming Palestinian towns and cities in the West Bank.
Since early January, more than 130 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli soldiers in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, including women and children, according to official Palestinian figures.
Sunday's attack, which is the latest in a string of attacks between Israelis and Palestinians, comes two days ahead of Israel's fifth elections in fewer than four years.
