Tehran [Iran], August 26: Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and his Omani counterpart Badr Albusaidi have discussed implementing a temporary navigational corridor and mine-clearing project in the Strait of Hormuz.
During their meeting in Tehran, the two leaders stressed the importance of reaching arrangements that respected the sovereignty of their respective countries, according to a statement.
Araghchi and Albusaidi discussed a proposed framework that "includes the establishment of a temporary joint navigation corridor through the Strait of Hormuz and an agreement to implement a joint project to clear the strait of mines". Discussions will continue between the two countries to reach an agreement "on a permanent navigation corridor and future arrangements for managing the strait, alongside establishing a mechanism for exchanging information, managing navigation traffic, and providing related navigational and security services".
