Madrid [Spain], October 29: The Spanish football federation RFEF has suspended Wednesday's Copa del Rey matches in respect for the victims of a train accident in central Spain. "As a sign of respect and solidarity with all the victims of the tragic train accident that occurred early this Wednesday in the province of Toledo, the RFEF has suspended the 24 matches corresponding to the first round of the Spanish Copa del Rey initially scheduled to be played during this afternoon and evening," the RFEF said in a statement.
Top clubs Real Madrid and Barcelona are not affected by the postponement as they will enter the competition later. At least 64 people were killed and dozens injured when two high-speed trains collided, authorities said. The RFEF said that a new match schedule will be announced in due course.
