Washington DC (USA), Feb 27: The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says it has confirmed a case of the new coronavirus with an unknown infection route. It says this could be the first community spread of the virus in the United States.
The CDC announced on Wednesday that the new case has been confirmed in the state of California. The patient had reportedly not traveled to China, or other countries or territories where the virus is spreading, and had no contact with people known to be infected.
There are now 18 confirmed cases in the US apart from people who were evacuated from the Diamond Princess cruise ship.
